Postcards in the USA

My postcards for the Creative Swap have arrived safely in Lenna's hands in the USA.  Can't believe how they took less than 1 week from Spain to the USA!  I really like the way she posts a little blurb pictures of the cards as they come in.  Click here.

A summer's day at sea

New postcard fo the Creative Swap inspired by a quote (by JFK) that I really like. I used watercolours and seasalt for a little texture.

"It is an interesting biological fact that all of us have in our veins the exact same percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean, and therefore, we have salt in our blood, in our sweat, in our tears.

We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea--whether it is to sail or to watch it--we are going back from whence we came."

Postcard 2 (or not...)

Last night I got experimental - this postcard for the Creative Swap started off as a watercolour and then progressed on to collage. The closet I've ever come to collage is with my English students - collaging body parts from magazines.  Anyway, collage is apparently not my forté - because when I went to take some pics this morning I discovered a paintbrush hair right through the middle under a thick, dried layer of gluey/gel stuff. Argh!  Now I HAVE TO keep this postcard and make another one for the swap. There are even grains of sea salt left over from the watercolour technique I used - which I quite like - considering it is the sea.  So, I won't be sending this one - I think it might have been subconscious sabotage - as I was thinking last night how much I like this postcard... hee hee.

The theme is "A summer's day........on the Costa Brava"

Just in case you were wondering.... the Costa Brava is one of the most beautiful places in Catalonia (the north-eastern Spanish coast)  I've lived here for 10 years and love it!

Postcard 1

The theme for this Creative Swap is "A Summer's Day".  I registered yesterday and am a bit of a tight schedule and need to get everything off next week if it's going to arrive in the USA by the 17th of September.  Don't want to miss the swap!  Naturally, I had to start off my postcard making with some whimsical, colourful flowers.  Here it is:
The postcards don't all have to be the same, so I'm going to try a stitched postcard next and see how that works out.... I have some lovely silk scraps I'm going to play around with.  I've never made one before, so it should be fun.
